About Council
Nyanga Rural District Council is a local authority and body corporate established in terms of the Rural District Council Act (Chapter 29:13). The Council (area) is made up of 31 wards and 42 councillors - comprising  31 elected councillors representing 31 wards; nine (9) elected councillors representing Women's Quota and two (2) non-elected councillors who are members of Nyanga Town Board committee. Nyanga Rural District Council covers an area of 5 897,82 km2,of which 28% falls under natural region 1 while 24% falls under Natural Region 2. The rest of the district falls in natural regions 3, 4 and 5.

Council Services

Road Construction

Nyanga RDC is committed to the construction of trafficable roads within the district. Major works are underway in 2025.

Refuse Collection

Nyanga RDC collects refuse in Nyanga Town three (3) times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Health Services

Nyanga RDC has 14 static clinics and one (1) mobile clinic in the district.

Education Services

Nyanga district has 86 primary schools and 34 secondary schools under the responsible authority of Council.

Sewer Services

Council manages sewer system in Nyanga town.

Social Amenities

Nyanga RDC maintains one community hall, one district library, seven public toilets, one district cemetery, one recreational park, three flea and green markets and three bus termini in the district.

Council has a department for Spatial Planning and Land Management which provides planning and housing services.
